Man killed in hit-and-run crash in South L.A.

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A 40-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run Sunday morning in South Los Angeles and now police are looking for the driver and vehicle involved in the crash.

The victim was reported lying in the road around 7:10 a.m. Sunday in the area of Normandie Avenue and 212th Street.

Police said a passerby was performing CPR on the victim when paramedics arrived and continued life-saving measures on the man, but their efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Though initially reported as a cardiac arrest call, paramedics observed the victim had suffered traumatic injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle and contacted police.

Police, along with county coroner’s personnel, established the man was hit by a vehicle, but his identity was not immediately released.

There was no vehicle or suspect description available.
