A 45-year-old man suspected of forcing his way into his former girlfriend's home in Hemet and barricading himself inside with one of her children until he was persuaded to surrender was being held Tuesday in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Angel Cipriano Carrillo of Los Angeles was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Monday on suspicion of domestic violence, violation of a court restraining order, burglary and obstruction of a peace officer.

According to the Hemet Police Department, at 7:30 a.m. Monday, patrol officers were called to a house in the 2800 block of Marilee Court, near Tori Drive, where the resident, whose name was not disclosed, alleged that Carrillo had forced his way inside in violation of a domestic violence restraining order.

The woman fled the property with two of her children, but the suspect allegedly kept a third child with him, remaining "barricaded in the residence and refusing to exit," according to an HPD statement.

"Officers were eventually able to remove the child from the residence," the police department said. "However, Carrillo refused to surrender."

A SWAT unit was summoned and surrounded the home, while a crisis negotiator contacted Carrillo and attempted to convince him to surrender peacefully.

"After several hours of barricading himself in the residence, Carrillo was subsequently taken into custody," according to HPD.

Jail records show he was arrested at 2:50 p.m. Monday.

No one was injured.

In addition to the alleged offenses stemming from the confrontation in Hemet, investigators learned that Carrillo was wanted on felony warrants in other jurisdictions.

Background information on the suspect, including any prior convictions, was unavailable.
