Man with machete fatally shot by deputies

LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A man with a machete was shot and killed by sheriff's deputies Wednesday in the Florence-Firestone area, according to authorities and reports from the scene.

The shooting was reported about 6:40 a.m. near 92nd Street and Graham Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies went to the location on a report of a man with a knife, and found a man armed with a machete, the sheriff's department reported. No deputies were injured.

The wounded man died at the scene, according to Fox 11.

Metro A Line, formerly Blue Line, service was interrupted between the Florence Station and the 103rd Street/Watts Towers Station, and buses were requested to accommodate rail passengers.
