SANTA ANA, Calif. (KNX) — A second athletic program at Orange County’s Mater Dei High School is under investigation following allegations of assault and hazing, the Santa Ana Police Department confirmed Friday.
The investigation comes on the heels of another investigation into an alleged hazing scandal on the Mater Dei football team that left a former student hospitalized with serious injuries.

Santa Ana police have conducted multiple interviews in their probe of the boy’s water polo team, and plan on referring the case to the O.C. District Attorney’s Office.
Police did not disclose further details as to the nature of the allegations or the state of the investigation.
According to The Orange County Register, Mater Dei principal Frances Clare was aware of the investigation. At least two players have left the Monarchs water polo team because of the allegations.
Clare has also received demands from the community that Mater Dei water polo head coach be removed from the school.
