May Day celebrations will take place across Los Angeles as people will be rallying and marching in support of unions, workers, and immigrants.
The first rally is set to begin at 9 a.m. at Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street in downtown L.A. A march will take place, with protestors heading down Olympic Boulevard and up Los Angeles Street before ending at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
The theme for the first rally is "One Struggle, One Fight - Workers Unite!" Vlad Carracsco with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights told KNX News’ Jon Baird it’s all about uniting vulnerable communities.
“Whether it's the trans community, whether it's immigrants, or whether it just be students trying to exercise their First Amendment right, we're trying to stand up for the community and show that when we stand up together, we can show power and stop this fascism from rising,” he said.
He added that this year, he’s expecting a lot of energy and momentum.

“I've been doing this for a couple of years, and this time around, it feels like we're going to have a lot more people on the streets than we've ever had before,” he said.
At 4:30 p.m., Centro CSO will host a rally at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights before marching to the Metropolitan Detention Center.
At the same time, the Community of Self-Defense Coalition will host a rally at MacArthur Park.
These rallies come after L.A. County workers wrapped up their 48-hour strike.
