Micro-units are filling up in Pasadena and you may be seeing more pop up in L.A. County.

Pasadena Studios opened in September. The six-story building contains 180 units that are 245 to 270 square feet, according to its website.
It has a gym and a laundry facility, among other amenities. Each unit also has a balcony.

The apartments are for those who make no more than $53,000 a year.

Rent starts at about $715 and goes up to $1200.

Christian Hart with Community Builders Group called it a feather in Pasenda’s cap.

“The city government designed the entitlement process to increase the density so that they would offer that they would offer up this entitlement pathway for developers like us to go in and seek out this type of use and use the higher density to provide more housing,” he said. “The only way we get out of the housing crisis is to provide additional supply. If we do that, then we start to alleviate the burden and start to address the demand factors.”

Hart said there are plans to submit other micro-unit projects in L.A.
