Money is being raised to help the owners of a Monrovia restaurant after burglars broke into their apartment and stole their life savings.

According to Jesse Narkmanee, whose parents, Phiyapan and Vorawat, own the Burger Basket, three to four burglars broke into his parents’ apartment on March 26 and stole around $20,000 worth of valuables and their life savings, which was around $140,000.

In a post on the GoFundMe for his parents, Narmanee said the suspects also “manhandled the three family dogs,” who were not injured.

Narkmanee shared photos of the suspects inside the home, as well as of the car they used, a grey Nissan Rogue.

Narkmanee added that as a result of the burglary, his dad was hospitalized with “post-traumatic stress condition.” He said that while the restaurant would be closed for a couple of days, he urged people to come and visit once it reopened.

As of Saturday night, the GoFundMe has reached over $25,000.
