The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. March 24 on Pier T Avenue south of Pier T Lane, police said.
"The preliminary investigation revealed a Dodge Ram truck traveling southbound on Pier T Avenue when it was struck on the passenger side by the motorcyclist," police said in a statement.
The driver of the Dodge Ram stopped the vehicle, called 911, and began rendering aid until the arrival of paramedics.
Salazar was taken to a hospital and listed in critical condition after the crash.
Detectives were investigating whether the motorcyclist's speed was a determining factor in the crash.
