LANCASTER (CNS) - Authorities Monday identified a man who was killed when the pickup truck he was driving collided head-on with a big rig in the Lancaster area.
The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. Friday on Sierra Highway north of Avenue G, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Esteban Reynoso, 45, of Lancaster died at the scene, according to the CHP and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Reynoso was southbound on Sierra Highway in a 2019 Ford F-250 when the truck collided with a northbound 2021 Freightliner driven by Jorge Gomez, 49, of Lancaster, according to the CHP, which reported that Gomez suffered a minor injury.
"The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs as a factor in this crash is unknown at this time," the CHP said in a statement.

Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call CHP Officer Rincon at the Antelope Valley Area office at 661-948-8541. Tipsters may also call the CHP's Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259-3200.
