Dr. Larry Grogin was diagnosed with Parkinson’s seven years ago, and he has run an equivalent of a marathon each day for 100 days in a race across the nation.
Grogin ended his nationwide run Wednesday at the Calabasas Civic Center at around 12 p.m.
KNX News’ Pete Demetriou asked Grogin, why do 100 days of marathons?
“I thought people would listen,” Grogin said. “It rolls off the tongue easy and I thought people would say that's kind of a neat idea, and then I said, ‘What do I get myself into?’”
Grogin said that he had no business doing this type of run, burning through five pairs of shoes as he went from New Jersey to California.
“If you're still alive, you move, and you're going to have your best life,” Grogin said. “Moving is medicine.”
The 71-year-old raised close to $170,000 for the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s.
