"Currently on scene of multiple mud slides in Silverado Canyon," the department tweeted just before 1 p.m.

"Firefighters have rescued trapped residents. No injuries at this time. Media staging will be at Library of the Canyons off Santiago Canyon Road."

The rescue efforts took place in areas where evacuations warnings were issued Sunday. Though many residents chose to stay, the warnings have now been turned into mandatory evacuation orders as the threat of mudslides and flooding in the Bond Fire burn scars continues due to heavy rainfall.
