A brush fire scorched roughly two acres of terrain in the Laguna Niguel area Wednesday, threatening structures and prompting some evacuation orders.

The fire broke out at 3:26 p.m. at Alcott Place and Ridgeway Avenue, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg Barta.
Officials ordered evacuations for residents along Copps Hill Street. A shelter in place order was put in place for Middleton Place and Alcott.
A temporary shelter was set up at Crown Valley Community Center at 29751 Crown Valley Parkway.
