BOYLE HEIGHTS (CNS) - One person was killed Saturday when a car struck a freeway embankment near Boyle Heights.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol were called at 4:41 a.m. to northbound Golden State (5) Freeway and Whittier Boulevard where they learned the Honda Accord hit the embankment and then stuck a tree, CHP Officer Michael Nasir told City News Service.
The victim, whose age, name and gender was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP closed several lanes of the freeway while it conducted an investigation of the crash.
