
LOS ANGELES (KNX) - A fire at a Boyle Heights apartment Wednesday morning left a woman dead.

It happened at a two-story building on 516 South Clarence Street around 4 a.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewart.
The department said 44 firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in about 20 minutes and prevented it from further spreading.
While searching inside the apartment, a body was discovered. They were pronounced dead on the scene. Stewart later confirmed the victim was a 68-year-old woman.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
