On Friday morning, some customers were belting out songs in a 7-foot-tall takeout box outside a Panda Express near USC.
Yep, you heard that correctly. Just in time for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Chinese chain is rolling out “Pandaoke” in four music-loving cities across the country.
A company representative said it’s a way to promote their new tagline, “Have you eaten yet?”
‘It's very common that like if you walk into an Asian household, aunties will come and bombard you with questions asking you, ‘ave you eaten yet?’ and give you a bunch of food and that's how they show care for you,” the representative told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “We kind of put those together with music and food feeding the soul.“
Panda Express also gave out portable karaoke machines to customers buying family meals.
