The parents of a missing baby in the Inland Empire were charged with murder and are expected to make their first court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.

Jake and Rebecca Haro are accused of murdering their 7-month-old son, Emmanuel, between Aug. 5 and Aug. 14, according to court documents. They’re also charged with making a false police report.

The parents were arrested on Friday morning at their home in Cabazon on Aug. 22. Hours later, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department determined that Emmanuel was dead. They are still searching for the baby’s body.

According to the sheriff’s department, deputies responded to a reported kidnapping at the Big 5 in Yucaipa. Rebecca Haro told deputies she had been attacked outside the store and that her baby was kidnapped. Deputies later determined that was not the case.

On Monday, Jake Haro was seen with investigators scouring the hills off the 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley.
