The Pasadena City Council is expected to consider a possible memorial to the late Eddie Van Halen.
His death from cancer earlier this month at the age of 65 really struck a chord with fans around the world.
His passing hit even harder in Pasadena where Eddie and his older brother, drummer Alex went to school and the band that would become Van Halen really began.
“The hometown hero, he played at a lot of our local venues that still exist. He played at numerous parties and school engagements,” says city spokesperson Lisa Derderian.
She says there are two memorials where people have been leaving flowers and other mementos in honor of Eddie Van Halen on a daily basis.
“And on our city social media we are getting a lot of comments about ‘will we do a memorial?’ and what he meant to the city,” she says.
The City Council will consider the possibility when it meets on Monday.
