The City of Pasadena has entered a Level 2 water supply shortage plan as of Sunday. The city consequently implemented new rules limiting outdoor watering to two days a week from April to Oct. 2021, and one day a week from Nov. 2021 to March 2022.
The new "Summer Watering Schedule" became effective starting Aug. 16.
Even-numbered addresses will be permitted to water lawns and gardens on Mondays and Thursdays. Odd-numbered addresses may water Tuesdays and Fridays. All addresses will be restricted to Saturday waterings starting Nov. 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022.
Level 2 rules also prohibit filling ornamental lakes or ponds, except as needed to sustain aquatic life. Additionally, they obligate all Pasadena property owners to fix leaks, breaks, or other sprinkler system malfunctions when problems are identified, or within 48 hours of notice by Pasadena Water and Power.
Watering landscapes for fire protection or to care for trees or vegetation intended for consumption is exempt from Level 2 restrictions. Use of hand-held hoses with water shut-off nozzles or devices is also exempted.
