After being closed due to the Palisades Fire, Pacific Coast Highway will be reopened to the public toward the end of May, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced on Saturday.
According to a press release from the governor’s office, one lane in each direction will be opened.
“We understand how essential this route is for daily life and local businesses,” Newsome said in a statement. “Reopening PCH is a top priority, and we are going all-in to get this done.”

Currently, PCH is only open to residents, contractors, essential businesses, and crew members working on debris removal.
PCH fully reopened on Feb. 3; however, it was closed hours later due to a storm. It has since had on-and-off closures.
