The agency said Bejarano was walking across the eastbound side of Limonite, heading in a southerly direction, where there is no marked pedestrian crossing when he was hit by an eastbound motorist traveling "at or near the posted speed limit."

The driver, whose identity was not released, immediately stopped and waited for emergency personnel.

Paramedics reached the location within five minutes and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
