A pedestrian was struck and killed on the Escondido (215) Freeway in Riverside, and authorities are investigating the cause of the collision Friday.
The crash took place around 2:40 p.m. Thursday on the 215 Freeway at Center Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was hit in the No. 2 lane of the freeway. Why the victim was on the freeway is unknown.
The age and gender of the victim was not immediately released. The person's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The CHP was investigating the accident.
