The people arrested at downtown L.A.’s Oceanwide Plaza – also known as the “graffiti towers” – will face a total of 23 criminal charges, according to city attorney Hydee Feldstein-Soto.

However, Feldstein-Soto hasn't announced the exact charges or how many defendants there are. KNX News’ Craig Fiegener spoke to L.A. City Councilmember Kevin de León about the abandoned construction project.

“It's become a local, a national, an international tourist attraction. This building has been abandoned since 2019 because they run out of cash, they fall into bankruptcy,” he said. “They have to step up or they have to merely sell this building.”

De León said he hopes that somebody will step up to buy this building and finish the project.

In February, former L.A. mayoral candidate and real estate mogul Rick Caruso said the towers would cost more to finish building than it’s worth.

The city secured the property with a brand-new, taller fence and added extra Los Angeles Police Department officers to keep trespassers out. The city also placed a lien on the property for the additional costs of the fence and officers.
