The spotlight shines on young storytellers this weekend as Kids In The Spotlight (KITS) presents a powerful showcase of eight youth-created short films on the IMAX screen. The nonprofit, which mentors foster and opportunity youth through a paid Script-to-Screen program, expands its annual Film Awards into a two-part celebration - the community screening on October 25 and the awards ceremony November 1 at Paramount Studios.
Saturday’s event invites the public to watch, vote, and hear directly from the young filmmakers in a post-screening discussion. Among the Hollywood stars supporting this year’s awards are Meagan Good (Harlem), Ty Burrell (Modern Family), John Salley, Zach King, Golden Brooks, and Emmy-winning journalist Christine Devine.
