NEWHALL (CNS) - One person was killed Sunday morning in a Newhall crash.

The wreck occurred about 2 a.m. on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Weldon Canyon Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Garcia said.

No further details were available, he said.

A news videographer at the scene said a vehicle was crushed between a big rig and another vehicle. Video showed the front of a sedan under the big rig's trailer and a pickup truck behind it. The covered body of the victim lay next to the sedan.

The CHP issued a SigAlert at 2:16 a.m. for all but the fast lane of the northbound Golden State Freeway at Weldon Canyon Road.

The fatal crash was just after a crash at 1:54 a.m., just north of the fatal crash, he said.

A vehicle rolled over a K-rail in a construction zone and paramedics were called to see if the driver had any injuries, according to the CHP.
