Irvine Police are searching for a man accused of using a selfie stick to video a teen girl in her bedroom.
Sergeant Karie Davies told KNX News it happened in the area of Jeffrey and Irvine Blvds. in October.

“We got a call from a mom who was reviewing her Ring camera activation from the prior day and noticed that an adult male had come to her front door area and used a very long telescopic selfie stick with his cellphone to point it up toward her daughter's bedroom,” she said. “Her daughter is high school age and happened to be home at that time doing homework.”
Video provided to KNX News showed the man holding up the selfie stick, checking the footage, and before holding it up again and then walking away.
Davies said detectives created a flyer to send out to law enforcement partners and checked internal databases for a match, but nothing came up.
On Wednesday, the department posted photos of the man on its Facebook page.
“Sometimes in situations like this, it could be an innocent mistake,” Davies said. “It could be, someone with developmental delays. It could be a myriad of reasons, or it could be something sinister. So that's why we put it out on our social media to try to help us identify this person so we could talk to him and figure out what he was up to.”
Anyone with any information on the man was urged to email cvoors@cityofirvine.org.
