Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Transit Services Bureau were dispatched about 9:10 a.m. to the 105 overpass at Vermont Avenue, where a passerby reported to the California Highway Patrol that they had spotted a male wearing tan clothing pointing what appeared to be a long gun at motorists, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
The California Highway Patrol closed all freeway lanes at the sheriff's department's request.
"Deputies detained someone matching the description," according to the sheriff's department.
It was unclear if the detained person actually had a rifle or some other object, a sheriff's deputy at the information bureau said.
The freeway was reopened about 9:50 a.m.
