The West Santa Ana Branch will be renamed, and it is up to the public to come up with its new name.

The L.A. Metro created a contest that asks the public to come up with a new name for the train line that will go from downtown L.A. to Artesia. The line will go through southeast L.A. County, providing service to areas such as Cerritos, Downey, Huntington Park, and several others.

“The rail line will not travel to Santa Ana as it once did. Given this confusion about the project, Metro will rename the project to better reflect the service area, the communities’ character, culture and experience of the people who live, work and play in the cities served by the new line,” officials said.

The instructions for submitting the new name can be found here.
Participants must be 13 years or older.

The winner will receive a $100 gift card.

The deadline for submissions is Sept. 29, 2023. The name will be announced January 2024.
