LOS ANGELES (KNX) — Celebrations were in abundance Sunday night in Los Angeles following the Rams’ Super Bowl victory over the Cincinnati Bengals at SoFi Stadium, but some fans turned violent, prompting police to issue a tactical alert in Downtown L.A.

A large crowd amassed downtown near Crypto.com Arena following the home team’s big win. Hundreds were out partying in the streets, but some fans took things up a notch.

Multiple videos from the area shared on social media showed fights, fans vandalizing cars and buses in heavy traffic, and gunshots being fired.

The LAPD issued a dispersal order in the area of 11th and Hope streets just after 9 p.m.

“We ask those that are celebrating tonight, celebrate responsibly,” the department tweeted. “Do not allow your actions to tarnish a great #SuperBowl win. Obey all police orders and clear the streets around the area off 11th and Hope.”

About an hour-and-a-half later, the LAPD tweeted, “We are seeing violent and destructive behavior by large crowds in the heart of the Downtown LA area. We have issued dispersal orders and have a large police presence. Everyone that is part of those crowds, obey all dispersal orders and clear the streets immediately.”

The celebrations continued late into the night, though it appeared the majority of the crowd had left sometime around midnight.

Police announced the arrest of one man, who was allegedly doing donuts in a car with another male, for possession of a loaded firearm after police stopped the vehicle.

No major injuries were reported, police said.
