"Scrubs" producer Eric Weinberg, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple criminal counts of sexual assault, won a round in civil court when a judge ruled one of his accusers will have to turn over documents that include communications between the plaintiff and the producer.
In her Los Angeles Superior Court complaint filed last Nov. 7, the plaintiff identified only A.B. alleges sexual assault, sexual battery, gender violence, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence. She alleges Weinberg induced her to visit his Los Feliz home in December 2019 and sexually assaulted her.
In his court papers, Weinberg's attorney states that during A.B.'s first deposition session on March 22 in Tucson, Arizona, the plaintiff failed to produce any requested documents and refused to answer some questions. On Tuesday, Judge Michael Stern granted a defense motion ordering A.B. to produce the documents.
According to the plaintiff's suit, she and Weinberg arranged a blind date on an online dating site, OKCupid. On the first date, the woman went home with the producer and alleges that he sexually assaulted her.
In his court papers, Weinberg's attorney states that the documents sought include the communications between the plaintiff and Weinberg as well as those between A.B. and anyone else alleging assault by Weinberg; the plaintiff's diaries, calendars or other record of daily activities from the day before she met Weinberg until now; and documents that show evidence of the psychological treatments the plaintiff maintains she received as a result of the alleged sexual assault.
A.B.'s attorneys contended in their court papers that their client answered all questions posed to her during the first deposition and that she also "provided all responsive materials."
The 63-year-old Weinberg's other credits include "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher," "Californication" and "American Dad."
