South L.A. police pursuit ends in 3-vehicle crash

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A police pursuit of an allegedly stolen vehicle ended in a violent, three-car pileup early Thursday morning in South Los Angeles, according to authorities.

The chase began shortly before 1 a.m. in the area of 82nd and San Pedro streets in the Florence area, according to the LAPD. It lasted roughly 30 minutes before ending in a crash at Florence Avenue and Main Street.

The suspect was alone in the vehicle, and was later taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. An LAPD spokesperson said he was expected to recover.

Four others were injured in the crash, including drivers and passengers in the two other vehicles involved.

Information regarding the identities of the suspect and victims was not immediately available.
