Deputies from the department's Palmdale Station responded at 7:55 p.m. Thursday to 35th Street and Avenue R-4 where the man, who was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon, barricaded himself inside a pickup truck, prompting an evacuation for the residents, an LASD spokeswoman told City News Service.
The suspect was involved in a pursuit with deputies before crashing the pickup outside a residence, CBS 2 reported.
Officers from the department's Special Enforcement Bureau were contacted and tried to coax the suspect into surrendering, which he did around 1:30 a.m., the LASD said.
The suspect was taken to a hospital for injuries he suffered during the crash.
