Suspected human remains found on Beach in Long Beach

An investigation was underway Friday after what appeared to be human remains were found on a beach in Long Beach, authorities said.

Officers responded at about 9:25 a.m. Friday to a report of human remains discovered at Junipero Beach in the 2100 block of East Ocean Boulevard between Junipero and Cherry avenues, Long Beach Police Department Sgt. Bradford Stein told City News Service.

"Detectives from the LBPD Homicide Detail and investigators from the L.A. County Medical Examiner's Office are responding to investigate further," Stein said.
