Hours after reopening, Topanga Canyon Boulevard will close at midnight on Saturday due to the incoming storm, according to Caltrans.

"Crews will monitor and reassess road conditions daily as long as it is safe to do so and will share updates on road reopening via news releases and social media when they are available," officials said.

The 3.6-mile stretch reopened early Friday morning following months of intermittent closings.

“Right now, we have Topanga Canyon Boulevard, south of Grandview, down to one lane for repairs from fire and then subsequent slide that washed out a portion of the road over the holiday,” Caltrans rep Lauren Wonder told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “We closed it preemptively because of the impending rains, and sure enough, some mud and debris came down around post mile 1.8. So outside of that closure, but these are the kinds of things that we're worried about with the saturated hills through these rains and those hills that have been laid bare by the fires, and we were able to clear the mud that did come down over the New Year holiday.”
