President Donald Trump will be visiting Southern California on Friday afternoon to survey wildfire damage in the Pacific Palisades.
The president told reporters on Friday morning that before his trip to the Pacific Palisades, he will be traveling to North Carolina. He will not be visiting the areas impacted by the Eaton FIre.
Trump plans to meet with some of the local leaders, including Congresswoman Judy Chu and the LAFD Fire Captain. KNX News Craig Fiegner reported that Gov. Gavin Newsom was not on the list to appear at the meeting, but that he would meet Trump on the tarmac after he lands.
L.A. Mayor Karen Bass told Fiegener earlier this week that she hopes to meet with Trump.
“I'll say ‘welcome to Los Angeles’ and immediately go into what we're facing right now and how we hope to continue the federal partnership, which we already have,” she said. “So it's not like things cut off from one day to the next, you know, the FEMA representatives that we have here, the Army Corps of Engineers. I mean that has continued, and it is my hope that he will be very supportive.”

On Wednesday, Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity he wouldn’t approve any more federal aid until more water goes to Southern California.
“I don’t think we should give California anything until they let the water run down,” he said.
As of Friday morning, the Palisades Fire was at 77% containment and burned 23,448 acres, according to CalFire.
