The search for the next Los Angeles Police Department chief continues as Mayor Karen Bass said UCLA researchers are contributing to the search.
Bass told the Los Angeles Times that Karren Lane, the deputy mayor of community safety, is working on a survey with the researchers to gather input from the community about what they expect from the next chief.
She added that the search could take four to six months and that she also wants more input from officers and the Civilian Oversight Commission.
The department’s current chief, Michel Moore, will retire at the end of the month. Dominic Choi will serve as the interim chief.
