The parking lot at UCLA’s Jackie Robinson Stadium could be converted into modular housing for veterans in a matter of months.

UCLA’s baseball team is one of several private interests that illegally leased parcels of land on the U.S. Veterans Affairs campus in West Los Angeles – land that was supposed to be used for the benefit of disabled military veterans.

Last month, U.S. District Judge David O. Carter ordered the stadium to be locked down until the university came up with a plan to use the land for its intended purpose.

Carter wanted temporary housing for homeless veterans to be built on the campus within 90 days, but he relaxed his timeline after VA officials said picking a contractor and putting up housing couldn’t be done so quickly.

A plan for pricing and specifications for more than 100 modular housing units will go before the judge on Tuesday, according to the L.A. Times. Developers have estimated each unit will cost around $130,000.

It is still unclear what’s going to happen to the stadium itself, as well as the private Brentwood School's sports complex on the VA campus, which includes an Olympic pool, football stadium, basketball pavilion, and more.
