On Thursday, a $75,000 reward was renewed by Supervisor Kathryn Barger for information leading to the killer of a four-year-old boy in Altadena.
Salvador Esparza was shot and killed on the evening of July 5, 2016. His grandmother, Jenny Esparza, told KNX News’ Emily Valdez that a fist fight between two groups of men at a liquor store ended with gunfire into a home where Salvador was on the porch.
“A lot of people tell me that he was outside playing, but they then afterwards they told me that he was standing in the doorway, that he had heard the gunshots and he just ran out to the doorway thinking that there were fireworks,” she said. “How much of that is true, I don't know, and I don't think I'll ever find out.”
She urged anyone with any information to come forward.

“I mean, you want to take the money, take the money,” she said. “If you don't want to do it because of the money, I mean, find it in your heart. I mean, put yourselves, put yourself in our shoes and just think about how we've been feeling for the past nine years losing our 4-year-old grandbaby.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Adam Kirste or Sergeant John Aanarial at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477) or visiting lacrimestoppers.org.
