A Ventura County history teacher is under intense scrutiny over political comments she made in her Anacapa Middle School classroom. The teacher, who has not been named, was recorded by one of her students who shared the seven-minute video with his parents when he got home.
In it, the teacher can be heard saying, “Hunter Biden, for example, is doing deals with China and Ukraine where was funneling money illegally. He also had child pornography on his laptop. He was having sexual intercourse with his own niece.”

They’re comments that Sarah Silikula, the mother of the boy who recorded the video, is astounded by.
“I trusted her to teach him the facts about history. That’s her job, she’s just a history teacher,” Silikula told CBS L.A. “And she went off on this rant like she was a preacher at a pulpit!’
Silikula said the incident created issues at home, when her son began to question what he was being taught at home.
“[He said] ‘Dad, teachers know everything. She’s right, dad. You’re wrong,’” Silikula said, upset over the fact that her son is now questioning the trust he had in his parents, based on his teacher’s statements about Biden, vaccines, and other topics in class.
“He thinks we lied to him,” Silikula said.
The Ventura Unified School District said it does not condone the discussion that the teacher had with her students and an investigation is underway. All students have been removed from the teachers class and assigned to another teacher, according to Marieanne Quiroz, the VUSD communications director.
"Although we cannot disclose information related to individual personnel matters, it should be noted that the Ventura Unified School District...will work closely with staff to ensure that this does not happen again," VUSD said in a statement to KNX.
The district is following the progressive discipline policy with the teacher, as agreed with the union, Quiroz said, adding that she could not comment further on what steps are next in the disciplinary process.
