The Rose Parade will roll through Pasadena beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday; however, people can start marking their spots at 12 p.m. Tuesday.

Lisa Derderian, the spokesperson for the Pasadena, told KNX News’ Jon Baird some people started marking their spots as early as Christmas Day.

“We were getting reports of people spray painting grass to cordon off the area,” she said. “So we were taking down the caution tape and the rope and the scaffolding people are putting up.”

When it comes to those who are planning to save their spot, Derderian said there are some rules people need to keep in mind. One of those rules - when it comes to marking your spot, do not use spray paint.

“So you can use some other means, whether it be tape, whether it be rope, but do not spray paint the grass because that can be considered vandalism [and] graffiti,” she said.

Derderian added that those looking to claim a spot for the parade need to keep all their stuff with them, including chairs and personal items.

“Do not leave any of your items unattended, they will be taken away,” she said.

There's no drinking alcohol or smoking. If you’re planning to stay overnight at your spot, Derderian said you cannot have a bonfire.

“Those embers can easily fall into sleeping bags or ignite a structure, so that's a major concern,” she said. “We will be extinguishing those along the prairie route if we see them.”

Also if you’re planning on bringing that drone you got for Christmas - think again.

“There's a temporary flight restriction in place for both the parade and the games,
Derderian said. “So anyone who attempts to fly a drone will be subject to fine, arrest, and or imprisonment.”

Derderian also urged people to pay attention to the “no parking” signs and to pick up all the trash in their area after the parade ends.
