Woman charged in double stabbing in Brea

A 27-year-old woman was behind bars Friday on charges of stabbing the father of her child and a woman in Brea this week.

Alyssa Jasmine Reyes of Brea was charged Thursday with two counts each of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon and a count of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, all felonies. She also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder as well as the personal use of a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury in a domestic violence attack and inflicting great bodily injury.

Officers were called to an apartment complex just before 1:50 a.m. Wednesday at 180 S. State College Blvd., police said. They arrived and found a man and woman who were stabbed multiple times.

Reyes was arrested just before 2:10 a.m. nearby, police said. The victim were taken to a local hospital and were expected to survive.

According to the criminal complaint, the man is the father of the defendant's child. Reyes did not enter a plea Thursday at her arraignment and the hearing was rescheduled for Oct. 23 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
