A stolen speeding pickup being chased by police Friday in downtown Los Angeles slammed into an SUV that ended up rolling into a sunken vacant lot, injuring the driver.

The brief chase started in the area of Fifth and Wall streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

At 7:25 a.m., the pickup collided with an SUV at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Trinity Street, sending the innocent driver's vehicle into a sunken vacant lot.

The SUV rolled onto its roof and after several minutes, the woman inside managed to get out as officers got to the overturned vehicle.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took her to a hospital. She appeared to be alert as she was taken on a gurney to a waiting rescue ambulance.
