The crash occurred at 5:34 a.m. Friday on Main Street between Dyer road and Alton Avenue, Santa Ana Police Department Officer Natalie Garcia told City News Service.

The woman "walked into traffic," Garcia said. Her name and age was not immediately available. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver whose vehicle initially struck the pedestrian pulled over and remained at the scene, she said. A second vehicle then struck the her, but the driver did not stop as required by law. A description of the hit-and-run vehicle was not provided.

Around 8:20 a.m. Friday, the SAPD urged motorists to avoid Main Street between Dyer Road and Alton Avenue while police investigated the crash. The investigation was ongoing at 10:50 a.m., Garcia said.
