A Los Angeles home invasion turned deadly over the weekend when a group of three or four men wearing “dark clothing, hoodies and masks” broke into a Granada Hills residence, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“A suspect pointed a weapon at the victim, and while the suspects were inside the residence, the victim produced a firearm and a shooting occurred,” the LAPD’s incident report said.
After shooting and killing one of the intruders, the man, who has not been identified publicly by LAPD, then chased the remaining intruders out of the home, according to his statement. He said they left in a black BMW.
The shooting occurred in front of a toddler and a grandmother, who were both “rattled” by the experience but otherwise unharmed, according to police.
The man who shot the intruder was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody for questioning but was later released, the LAPD said.
The remaining suspects in the home invasion remain at-large.
