Famed Beatles drummer Ringo Starr was honored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration on Friday when they blasted his voice “across the universe” to celebrate his 83rd birthday.
NASA shared the news in a tweet, noting that they were sending his message of peace and love into space toward Stephan’s Quintet, a grouping of five galaxies, which has four that were the first compact galaxy group ever discovered.
The space agency is sending Starr’s voice “via the Deep Space Network, our 24/7 communications link with spacecraft exploring the cosmos.”
“Here’s to many more orbits to come!” NASA shared.
Every year, for the last 15 years, Starr has celebrated his birthday by leading friends in his now famous “peace and love” chant, Variety reported.
“It started by accident,” Starr said one year in an interview.
The Messenger reported that the pre-recorded message of Starr saying “peace and love” was sent out from a station in Barstow, California, on Friday at noon.
Starr and his fellow former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney are releasing one final Beatles album this year, using a demo from John Lennon that they and George Harrison previously considered producing.
However, the track wasn’t previously usable, but now it is thanks to the use of artificial intelligence.
