Norovirus now reported in California, 12 others states due to contaminated oysters

DALLAS, Texas (KRLD) — Thirteen states have now reported cases of Norovirus and it's all coming down to raw oysters people have eaten, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC said the raw oyster contamination has led to a total of 103 illnesses, in Califorina and 12 others states as of April 6.

The 13 states affected by the contaminated oysters include Texas, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

However, the CDC said other states could be added to the list soon due to records of distribution.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reports that the contaminated oysters were harvested in the south and central parts of Baynes Sound in Canadian British Columbia.
