With former President Donald Trump remaining the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, many continue to speculate about who he would pick as his running mate. However, Trump says it isn’t going to be a surprise.

“Well, it’s never really had that much of an effect on an election, which is an amazing thing, both election and primary. It’s never really had much of an effect,” Trump said after being asked about it by Fox News anchor Bret Baier. “I may or may not really [decide] something over the next couple of months. There’s no rush to that. It won’t have any impact at all.”

When it comes to hints about the possible VP pick, Trump described them as “pretty standard,” saying that he thinks they are a “very good person.”

“I think people won’t be that surprised, but I would say there’s probably a 25 percent chance that would be that person,” Trump continued.

Trump is now one of two top candidates running for the nomination, the other being former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. On Sunday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out of the race and threw his wagons behind Trump.

Others who have come out in support of Trump after running against him includes Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), who spoke during Trump’s event on Friday. Trump described Scott as a “great guy.”

“You know, [Scott] endorsed me. There’s an example, [Nikki Haley] comes from South Carolina, Tim Scott is from South Carolina. But if you look [at] the governor, great governor, another senator [Lindsey Graham]. We happen to like Lindsey,” Trump said. “But, [Gov. Henry McMaster (R)] knows it very well. He endorsed me. It’s very hard for a governor to endorse somebody when you haven’t … I mean, Henry McMaster was the lieutenant governor under her, and he endorsed me … What does that tell you?”

Trump has been hinting at who his VP pick would be for months, though his campaign continues to push that a decision has not been finalized.

Earlier this month, during a town hall event, Trump throughout former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s name after he dropped out of the race. Trump said he had “already started to like [Chris Christie] better.”
