Vice President Kamala Harris received her COVID-19 vaccine booster shot Saturday morning.

"As we have said from the beginning: the vaccines are free, they are safe and they will save your life," Harris, 57, said from the South Court Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
Harris stressed the importance of all Americans getting the vaccine booster as soon as they're eligible.
"What we know at this point in our country, the vast majority...well over 90% of the people in an ICU or dying from COVID are unvaccinated," Harris added. "So let’s get vaccinated and we will get through the pandemic."

Harris is eligible because she is considered a "high-risk" worker as she is required to travel frequently and interact with many individuals in the course of conducting her official duties.
The vice president received her first dose of the Moderna vaccine on December 29, 2020 and the second dose on January 26, 2021.
