(Buffalo, Minn.) - Gunman Gregory Paul Ulrich, 67, allegedly opened fire inside Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo, Minn., on Tuesday, critically injuring five and causing the evacuation of nearby schools. At a press conference, police said Ulrich, 67, of Buffalo, has had contact with officers since 2003, and is "no stranger to law enforcement."
Ulrich had been staying at the Super 8 Motel in the area where multiple suspicious devices was found, police said. Investigators believe he was acting alone.
At least one of several planted bombs was also detonated inside the healthcare facility, according to reports. Six boxes of blood were delivered in the aftermath by Minnesota State Patrol pilots in the fight to save victims' lives.
Kelly Spratt, president of Buffalo Hospital and Cambridge Medical Center, confirmed five people were being treated for injuries -- although he said their conditions were unknown. He described it as a "very challenging day."
The incident began in the suburb northwest of the Minneapolis before 11 a.m. and the bomb exploded about 30 minutes later, the Star Tribune reported.
At least five people were critically injured and the gunman was reportedly taken into custody. Up to 15 people total were possibly injured, per reports.
Schools in Buffalo were locked down during the incident and the two closest schools, Tatanka Elementary STEM School and PRIDE Transitions, were evacuated to Buffalo High School.
"The district acted quickly with the help of the Buffalo Police Department and Wright County Sheriff's Department to make sure that our students are safe and secure," school officials said in a release. "Our thoughts go out to those directly involved with the situation."
State Rep. Marion O'Neill, R-District 29B, said the shooting broke her heart.

UPDATE (12:06PM): According to dispatch audio, at least four homemade bombs are believed to have detonated inside the clinic. 15 people are now reportedly injured from this mass shooting and bombing.
UPDATE (12:00pm): According to the Star Tribune, there is high suspicion" of a bomb threat directed at a Super 8 hotel about a mile south of the clinic. It is not known if the two situations are linked at this time.
UPDATE: Buffalo Police have since confirmed that this is no longer an active shooter.
According to reports, there is an active shooter at the Allina Health in Buffalo.
WCCO-TV confirmed with Allina that the shooter was active and shots were fired around 11am. As many as 5 people are believed to be seriously, and possibly critically-wounded. It is believed a male suspect has been detained.
