A number of big name companies have decided to move to Texas in recent years, and yet another has decided to pack things up and move to the Lone Star State. HP enterprises, a descendant of the original company that started Silicon Valley, Hewlett-Packard, announced recently they will be moving to Texas. The tech company plans to begin building a new campus in Houston.
While HP enterprises had been based in California, their largest employment hub was in Houston, making the move not surprising to many in the industry. HP Enterprises joins a growing list of companies moving from California to Texas, though the move won’t result in any layoffs. With a number of tech companies now based in Texas, it seems more could potentially be on the move as well.
As for HP Enterprises, the move marks the end of an era, as HP’s success in Palo Alto helped lead to the growing tech scene in Northern California, leading to the nickname, ‘Silicon Valley.’ Now, it’s only a matter of time before Texas gets its own tech nickname.
