SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KNX) – The California State Capitol was evacuated Thursday morning following a credible threat.
The California Highway Patrol informed the Senate of the threat, according to a memo by the Secretary of the State. Senate staff who had not yet reported to work were urged to work from home.
While it is unclear what exactly the threat was, KCRA-3 reporter Ashley Zavala said the person accused of shooting the Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical building had allegedly threatened to shoot the Capitol. Roseville police told the outlet they are investigating.
Around 10 a.m., people were allowed back inside the building.
State Assemblymember Isaac G. Bryan tweeted, “We are all safe in the Capitol. There is no active shooter, but there was a credible threat.”
